Method

  1. Soak the dal in water overnight.
  2. Grind the dal to a semi solid consistency.
  3. Heat the oil to a very high temperature.
  4. Add mustard seeds and green chillies to hot oil.
  5. Add immediately the dal paste to the hot oil stirring occasionally.
  6. To the cooking mixture add 2 tablespoons milk.
  7. Cook this mixture for approximately 4 minutes.
  8. Add tumeric powder, salt and remaining milk.
  9. Stir this constantly for 20 minutes.
  10. Spread the mixture on a plate.
  11. Garnish the dish with chopped coriander leaves and coconut.
  12. Chill and cut into the desired shapes.
  13. Serve as a snack.
